Training

Aspire was also instrumental in establishing a Training Centre that provides pre-employment training for people affected by AS or a related social disability. Tuiscint trains students to successfully make the transition from dependency to managing their own lives more effectively. This three-year course is designed to be flexible, providing opportunities for the students to practice and apply the skills being learned. The course consists of social skills, personal development, independent living & workplace skills, IT and work experience. Anyone over the age of sixteen (16) who has been diagnosed as having AS, HFA or a related social disability may participate in the course. Numbers are limited.

Supported employment

What is Supported Employment? Sometimes those affected by a disability may encounter difficulty finding and maintaining employment. Often it will be necessary to find assistance to find a job that matches these special preferences and abilities. With the support of a job coach, and by means of careful job matching, these difficulties can be overcome. This is Supported Employment. It means real, paid jobs for people with disabilities. Aspire helped establish this supported employment office located in south county Dublin.
